Sitter FAQs

Why do I have to input my credit card to register? 

We require your credit card information in order to register and pay for your background check.


Is there a verification process I must go through in order to register? 

Yes. As a sitter for QuickSit you must be currently enrolled in college. To create an account you must register using your college email account that ends in “.edu”. Once you enter in your school email, the app will send you a verification code to the specified email address, which must be entered back into the app.


Is the background check required? How much does it cost?

Yes! Every user who creates an account must submit to and pass a third party background check. The cost of a background check for a sitter is $35. This process and payment will be done directly through an in-app purchase.

It is important to note that there are limitations with all background checks; not all arrests and convictions are available in all jurisdictions, and in many jurisdictions, there is a delay. Further, state and federal law restricts access to and use of certain information.


Is there a fee to use QuickSit?

No. QuickSit does not charge any recurring fee or take a cut from any money you make from being a sitter. The only cost to you is paying for your background check!


Once I apply to a job, is it mine?

Once you apply to a job, the parent will receive a notification and can view your profile. Other student sitters can apply to the same job as you. If the parent books you for the job after viewing your profile, you will get a notification that you are accepted for the job. The job is yours once the parent books/accepts you for the job.


What if I have to cancel a job I've already booked?

Be sure to communicate as soon as possible with the parent if you must cancel. At the moment, we do not charge you for canceling a job, but we highly recommend not canceling the day of a scheduled job or being a no-show. Failure to communicate with the family who booked you could result in a bad review, rating, or having your profile reported.


Any tips on profile photos?

Your profile photo is often the first impression a family will have of you. We recommend using a photo that only includes you. Since our team reviews all photos, we encourage you to take the time to find the perfect profile photo so that it can be approved as quickly as possible!

Below is a list of our sitter profile photo guidelines. Please review these before uploading your photo.

  • Be your best you: Have good lighting and a bright smile!

  • Finally, protect your privacy: Don’t display any sensitive information in your photo. This includes, but is not limited to, driver’s licenses, passports, government-issued ID’s, phone numbers and home addresses.

  • Don’t advertise: At QuickSit, we appreciate our users who run various businesses. However, we do not allow advertising of other services on our site. As such, we do not allow business or brand logos for profile photos.

  • No heavy filters: While we appreciate art, we ask that you refrain from adding cartoon-like filters to your photo.

  • Don’t hide: Keep your sunglasses and hoodie off! If you’re wearing a hat or wrap, be sure it isn’t covering your face.

  • Be appropriate and professional: Be sure not to include any offensive body language or text in your photo. Likewise, it’s best to avoid photos highlighting unprofessional activities.

  • Be alone: We’re sure you love your friends or family members, but since you’re working solo — the photo should be just you.

  • Be close: We recommend a photo in which you are no more than 6 feet away from the camera.

  • Use a clear photo of yourself: Headshots are best — at a minimum, the photo must clearly show you from chin to forehead.

Please Note: If your photo contains a child or children, by uploading you are verifying that you are the legal guardian or have explicit permission to use this photo.


How do I find families to babysit for?

Apply to babysitting jobs posted by local families OR select the “Available Now” button to show families that you are immediately available and wanting to babysit for a family.


How much time do parents have to select a sitter?

A parent can accept sitters at his/her convenience. We recommend to parents that they accept/book a student sitter at least three day before the job starts (if it is a scheduled job post).


Can I schedule recurring sitting jobs through QuickSit?

A parent can only post a job for one day at a time. If they need you for multiple jobs, they would have to create a job each time and accept you for each job.


Can I communicate with users in the app?

Yes! Go to the user's profile and select the "Message" button to start chatting.


Will families using the app also go through background checks?

Yes. Individual parents and sitters using QuickSit will go through a required background check. However, not every member in a household must complete a background check; only the user with a QuickSit account.


Can I choose what rate I would like to charge?

Parents choose the rate they charge when they create the job. You can put your usual rate on your profile; however, the hourly rate and payment method should be discussed prior to completing the job.


Am I guaranteed to book jobs?

No, we do not guarantee you will book a job through the scheduled or Quick Sitter option. QuickSit helps connect you with a large group of potential families, but unfortunately cannot guarantee any jobs.

If you are having trouble booking jobs, please thoroughly review your profile and consider adjustments. One tip is to upload a high-quality profile photo or consider adding more details to your bio.


How do I receive payment for babysitting?

Once a parent from QuickSit hires you, they are your employer and are responsible for paying you based on an agreed-upon rate and form of payment. So, it’s important to agree on the terms of payment (rate and form) up front. Payment methods could include: cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal.

Please note: QuickSit is an online meeting venue/job board and not an agency; we do not employ you in any way. As such, QuickSit does not get involved in monetary transactions between you and a family. We simply provide the platform for you to advertise your services and apply for jobs posted by families.


Can I be paid through the app?

At the moment it is not a feature we have integrated with the first version of our mobile app. We plan to add a payment feature in a future version, but for now you can ask parents to pay you in the following ways: cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal.


Do I need to do anything once a sitting job has been completed?

When a job has ended, the family should pay you with whichever method you have determined ahead of time with them (cash, check, Venmo, PayPal). We then ask that you complete a review and rating of the family to provide valuable feedback for other sitters.

Is the app only offered to TCU student sitters?

Currently, yes. We hope to expand to accommodate more colleges soon!


Do any tax laws or minimum wage laws apply to hiring sitters via QuickSit?

QuickSit users are individually responsible for any applicable tax, withholding or reporting.  For specific advice, we encourage users to consult with their tax advisor.

The QuickSit platform is designed as a marketplace for parents and sitters to connect for childcare bookings, and we are not an employer. Payment arrangements are made between parents and sitters. Therefore, local and state minimum wage laws do not apply to sitters since QuickSit does not employ sitters.

However, QuickSit does honor the federal minimum wage and therefore does not allow parents to post jobs below $8/hr. We encourage both sitters and parents to familiarize themselves with the local minimum wage laws and average rates in major metropolitan areas.


How do I save a list of my favorite families?

To save a user to your Favorites list, go to their profile and select the button labeled “Favorite”. The user will then be added to your list of favorites that you can access any time on your own account menu.


How do I report a profile?

To report a profile for any reason, click on the exclamation mark icon in the top right corner of a profile. You may then select a specific reason for flagging the profile or you can customize your message. The QuickSit team will be notified and will look into the reported profile.


Why has my account been removed?

We cannot share the details of your account's removal from our platform. However, reasons usually fall within one of these categories:

  1. You are found to be under the age of 18

  2. You are found to be not currently enrolled in college

  3. You fail an identity authentication or background check

  4. You are no longer eligible to be on our site based on our Terms of Use. Once your account is removed from our site, it is irreversible.

Please know that for the safety of sitters and families, we err on the side of caution: your removal does not bear on your character, general reputation, personal characteristics or mode of living.

If a member has been removed from our platform, we recommend you discontinue communication with them and/or do your own personal screening.

We also reserve the right to not approve your account for any reason, or no reason, with or without notice. Furthermore, we have no obligation to notify you of the reason, if we did not approve your account.

Parent FAQs

Why do I have to input my credit card to register?

Is there a verification process I must go through in order to register? 

Yes. When you first register, a text message will be sent to your phone with a verification number that will need to be entered back into the app.


Is a background check required? How much does it cost?

Yes. QuickSit ensures the safety and peace of mind of all users by requiring ALL users to submit to a background check. There is no additional cost for the background check; any costs are covered in your membership package. 


Does my spouse also need to complete a background check?

No. Only individuals using the app are required to complete a background check.


Any tips on profile photos?

Your profile photo is often the first impression a sitter will have of you. We recommend using a photo that only includes you or your family, but that also preserves your safety and privacy. Since our team reviews all photos, we encourage you to take the time to find the perfect profile photo so that it can be approved as quickly as possible!

Below is a list of our family profile photo guidelines. Please review these before uploading your photo.

  • Be your best you: Smile bright and have good lighting!

Do all student sitters complete a background check? 

Yes! Every user, sitter or parent, must submit to and pass a third-party background check. In addition, we verify each student attends the college they claim to, by sending a verification code to the email account provided by their college. 

It is important to note that there are limitations with all background checks: Not all arrests and convictions are available in all jurisdictions, and in many jurisdictions, there is a delay. Further, state and federal law restricts access to and use of certain information.


Do I choose my own rate?

Parents choose the rate they charge when they create the job. You can put your usual rate on your profile; however, the hourly rate and payment method should be confirmed with the sitter before booking.


Can I learn a little more about interested sitters before selecting one for my job?

Yes! You will be able to see the student’s picture, what school they go to, their grade level, as well as a short bio.


Can I contact and speak with interested sitters before hiring them?

Yes. You may message and speak with any applicants who apply to your job before choosing one. We recommend you keep all contact inside the app so we can monitor communication.

To message an applicant for your job, go to the sitter's profile and select the “Message” button.


Is there a deadline for selecting a sitter for my posted job?

We recommend that you accept/book your student sitter at least three days before the scheduled job. Please be mindful of the sitter's school schedule, and give them plenty of time to adjust their schedule if needed.


How can I pay my sitter?

Once you hire someone from QuickSit, you are their employer and are responsible for paying them based on an agreed-upon rate and form of payment. It’s important to agree on the terms of payment up front. Payment methods could include: cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal. In the future, we hope to integrate a payment feature in the app, but until then, payment will take place outside of the app's platform.

At this time, QuickSit does not offer refunds.
